You are an experienced guy

I do believe you are a seasoned guy. I suggest you define your skill set and position
judiciously before you send out your resume.
Are you a programmer or a system administrator? My impression is your skill set is not so attracting because you did not use hot lanaguges such as C++ and Java. Of course, that does not mean you won't have any opportunites. Even Fortran guys can find a job! The problem is one has few opportunities.

If you claim yourself as a system adminsitrator plus DBA, do you think you are qualified? Among others, I have to confess you have a lot of experiences. In any case, I
have to say you need decorate yourself. After some preparations, it is not impossible for you to get a job.

  • 工作学习 / IT技术讨论 / Hi,Jabber How about my job opportunity in Canada?
I have worked for about 7 years in IT area since I held my CS master degree. My mainly work experience is on the platform
    ES/9000 and RS/6000. During the 7 years,
I code on ES/9000 using COBOL and ASSEMBLER and CICS and DL/1.
I know something about the VSE. I just can say that since the operating system in mainfraim is too complicated.
During the recent few years, I switch to RS/6000. I have taken some training classes
for the system adminstration of the AIX.
Besides that, I have to be the DBA of the INFORMIX. On AIX, I code in C and ESQL/C.
As for the communication skil, I have some
understanding of SNA ,TCP/IP and X.25.
Now, I begin to learn JAVA. But since I don;t need to use it in my current work now, I just
can pracise it, I have no real work experience
of it. The above is my background.
I really appreciate it very much if you can take
    your time to reply.
    • There're always employers looking for RS/6000 professionals on the career newsgroup tor.jobs.
