Assessment of Future Travel Demand
Using the MTO travel demand model (supplemented by additional data), travel demands were forecast representative of the years 2021 and 2031.
In the westerly portion of the study area (west of Regional Road 50), travel demands forecast for year 2031 can largely be accommodated by the existing network of King's Highways and County and Regional roads plus the addition of planned and committed roadway improvements. As a result, it was concluded that, while some operational improvements may be required, no major new facilities were needed west of Regional Road 50. The study area was subsequently scoped down to concentrate on the easterly portion.
