Job Description
We are searching for a Sr SQL Server DBA, 5 or more years experience is required to be considered for this opening. In this role you shall: · Create/Maintain/Support MS SQL Server database in all environments · Develop/maintain/optimize shared code in the database · Provides operational support to production systems · Provides resolution of problems in an efficient and timely manner and escalates issues when appropriate · Data conversions and database promotions · Develop standards and templates · Support the system analysis, system architecture, functional design, construction and test plans for new or enhancements to existing system · Conducts preliminary analysis to determine project scope · Performs DBA activities, such as DTS packages, performance tuning, upgrades, support capacity planning · Performs implementation following established procedures and processes · Performs all required activities for effective version control and library management and integrates product/system into users environment
Responsibilities
· Some project management deliverables, including time and effort estimates, status reports, task identification, work schedules, and maintenance activities · Assists in root cause analysis and repair of recurring production problems · Conducts proactive, preventative maintenance activities · Assesses, tests and implements new systems software releases · Ensure a robust and high availability production environment · Works independently with occasional reviews of progress and results with supervisor · Nice to have Microsoft Certification · 5+ years of experience administrating using MS SQL Server 7.0 and 2000 and 7+ years of database experience · Good leadership, planning and organization skills (a self-starter) · Demonstrated experience/knowledge in Database operational and development support (including installation, configuring/performance tuning, database clustering, transact SQL, conversions, developing and tuning complex stored procedures, database design/modeling (normalization and de-normalization), migration, Backup/Recovery, NT 4.0, Windows 2000) · Experience working in a full system life cycle (small to large systems) · Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving, communication and analytical skills · Strong customer service focus · Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently · Ability to multi-task and to work effectively despite possible time constraints.
