And, Compaq was good and cheapbefore, if it keeps it quality after being bought by HP (HP notebook isn't good enough), you should go for it. I use a compaq now, bought last June, no problem at all.

Dell is good too with good price, but their service is question due to their expanding too fast. And, to my personal option, I'd like see the produce at first and change it as soon as possible (I can't inspect it at the scene as I did in China). I don't like waiting for deliever(usually 1 or 2 weeks) and if there is any problem with the product I have to mail it back to Dell, it cost money and much time.

As for TOSHIBA, it should be good too. But I met some friends using TOSHIBA and get bad news in recent months. One of them bought one TOSHIBA last July and kept on changing 3 times for the same problem (the CD burned doesn't work), and took a SONY at last.

SONY is funny and improved quickly, and its quality is good too. If you like cool layout and excellent screen of the laptop, you can consider SONY. SONY simulates Apple in their products.
