I do not know what MD was 15 or 20 years ago. I believe that process already outdated. All US universities and Canadian Universities currently category Medical Schools as graduate schools. If you check the latest issues of two famous magazines "US News and World Report" (US) and "MaCleans" (Canada), they rank medical schools in the issues which discussed graduate schools, not undergraduate schools. Even though a few medical schools take high school graduates, they all follow a path which leads to a bachelor degree first, then work for another years for a real MD. You may check the Web sites of Brown University for an example.
My knowledge from both reading and studying. I worked for my Ph.D. degree in US years ago. And my son is preparing applications for medical schools. I have many friends who are either practicing in or studying for a MD.
