movies are like music which has many styles, many genres. So Wang is smart enough to realize "hummm, since i am not talented enough to make my movie a box hit by its story, plot, directing, production everything , why not use celebrity endorsement instead...?"

So, he decideded his movie has to be "Red Carpet" style. that way, you can get ur ticket worth by expecting to see many many super stars in his movie, like you watch the red carpet walk before the academy award :) After all, wang does knows we all like to see movie stars, so basically he makes good use of movie stars, while the other good directors are creating them. Very well done.

p.s. I really get a good kick out of bashing wang jia wei :)

Maybe it is just me but I think his movies are totally over-rated!!! Dull, boring and hard to understand.

Can anybody tell me what is so good about his films, it hardly has any entertainment value... If it wasn't for that many movie stars in his films, I don't think anybody would ever be interested in watching his film. A good director/film makes movie stars, not rely on movie stars.

well, to me he is a un-talented chef who makes mediocre dishes with very expensive ingredients. I still can't believe how many super stars he had to use in his "2046", which also takes him forever to finish. -bugatlarge(hy); 2009-10-20 (#5620079@0)

个人觉得王的电影确实很特别。也许不太娱乐或符合逻辑。看了花样年华只是记得那段音乐和张美人穿旗袍的背影。那时何等寂寞的背影！
电影只是艺术的一种表现形式。就像绘画还有很多流派。所以王只是用他自己的形式去表达便了。也许有些人不喜欢。但只要有人喜欢就可以了。所以我觉得还是应该有王这样的导演。不然都去搞动作片、喜剧片、爱情片。。。。这世界就少了一道风景。
