本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Maybe it is because life is too monotonous here, or maybe winter is too long, or perhaps our ability and talent is too heavily suppressed here in this adopted father...land, where a little simple conversation requires so much sweat and struggle because of the language barrier... not to mention showing off our humor and the artistic side... We, at least I, love this annual event\---Rolia Gala.
This is the only time when many of us have a common goal. The meeting, the preparation, the food and drink, the sharing, the rehearsal... bring us together, and we no longer feel as lonely. Here, we create our own China-like way of living, or at least a hint of it, so that we won't go insane or commit suicide.
I don't dare to speak for everyone, but ever since I found Rolia, I found friends. So I have been very appreciative of people like Sailor, 38, Maya etc.... who have, with their talent and genius, brought to us so much joy, creativity,fun and excitement... Someday, I pray, that when I grow up, I will be doing the same thing, bringing joy and laughter to those who are lonely and joyless.
Thus, my philosophy is: even if I have to be made into a fool, a clown, a joker.... if I have fun, and can bring the audience some sort of relief and uplifting feeling, then it is all worthy of all the effort.
Thus, I told some of my Rolian friends: let us continue doing this... till we can and are allowed... for it is wonderful.
It is this kind of childishness and childlikeness that keeps us young and energetic and youthful and cheerful.
So rise, all those who are unwilling to be slaves of depression and old age and uselessness and goodfornothingness,let us carry on the Rolian tradition.
At least, let us not be cynical, but be enthusiastic and pro-active; be like 38 (but please take away that saying of yours: our last Rolia gala).
