Canadian citizens do not need a visa to travel to Mexico, but they do require a "Multiple Migratory Form" (issued to tourists, transmigrants, visitors, business-people, and advisors), known as FMM. This may be obtained during direct flights to Mexico or at the Mexican port of entry by presenting a valid passport.

All foreign visitors, regardless of natinality, travelling to Mexico for tourism or business reasons or in transit to another destination, are exempt from presenting a Mexican visa as long as they have a valid visa issued by the government of the United States.





Validity of passports

Mexican authorities do not require a minimum period of validity of passports; nevertheless, this document must be valid at the time of entry and during the period you wish to be in Mexico.



Permanent residents

Legal permanent residents in Canada are visa exempted

Required documents for admission:

1. Valid passport

2. Valid permanent resident card

3. Tourist Migratory form, which is provided during the flight to Mexico.



Diplomatic or official Canadian passports

Canadian citizens carrying diplomatic or official passports DO need a visa to visit Mexico for official or tourist purposes.

Requirements to apply for a diplomatic or official visa are:

1.- Visa application

2.- Valid diplomatic of official passport

3.- One passport-sized photo, white background, no eyeglasses.

4.- Diplomatic note from the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT), requesting the visa and specifying the purpose and length of the visit to Mexico.


Criminal record

Foreigners who wish to enter Mexico in any migratory category (tourists, students, residents, etc) DO NOT REQUIRE A POLICE CLEARANCE (criminal record).

Nevertheless, immigration officers may eventually deny entry to foreigners who have committed a serious crime, served a prison sentence or are currently on parole.

Other requirements

Immigration officers at the port of entry may request that the tourist show a return ticket and proof of economic solvency (credit card, traveller's cheques, etc) to cover expenses in Mexico.

Lenght of stay

The maximum period for which Canadian citizens may stay in Mexico is six months; the immigration officer at the port of entry will determine the exact authorized period for each tourist, up to a maximum of six months.

Extensions must be requested before the expiration date at the local office of the National Institute of Immigration.

Minors

Minor (any person under 18 years af age) must travel as any other Canadian citizen, with a valid passport.

When travelling alone or with only one parent, minors no longer need to present a parental consent form by both parents or by the parent that is not travelling.

However, in the case of shared custody, it is recommended that the parent travelling with the child to obtain authorization from the other parent, although no proof will be requiered for travelling. This is no a requirement from the Mexican government but it is a condition from the Canadian authorities in order to allow Canadian minors to go out of their country temporarily accompanied by only one or none of their parents.更多精彩文章及讨论，请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net

Visa
Permanent residents in Canada or holders of Hong Kong passports are visa-exempted

Required Documents for Admission:
A. Valid passport
B. Original Permanent Resident Card (not applicable to holders of Hong Kong passports)
C. A tourist-migratory form (tourist card), which is usually provided during direct flights to Mexico, and is always available at the Mexican point of entry

II. Non-permanent residents in Canada (visitors with multiple entry visa or holders of a work or student permit)

Visa
Legal temporary residents in Canada need a visa to visit Mexico.

Requirements to obtain a tourist visa:
A. Submit a completed visa application in person (no exception)
B. Valid passport
C. Valid multiple-entry visa to Canada and work/study permit
D. Proof of economic solvency, which maybe proven by presenting the following: bank statements, credit card statements, employment letter, etc. (Online statements are NOT acceptable)
E. One color photograph, passport-size, not older than 30 days, white background and uncovered face (no glasses). Automatic machine pictures are not accepted.
F. One clear photocopy of all the documents listed above (except application).

**IMPORTANT** Scanned documents or online statements are NOT acceptable. Original documents must be presented with the application.
Bringing the documents required does not guarantee visa approval. Additional documentation or proof to support your visa application could be required by the Consular Officer.

Mexican migratory form (tourist card)
A tourist card is usually provided during direct flights to Mexico, and is always available at the Mexican point of entry

--Minors--

Letters of parental consent are not longer required by the Mexican migratory authorities. Therefore, getting one would be optional (you also need to verify with the airlines and local migratory authorities about their own requirements).
