Thank you very much. Come in, please.

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Actually, I am not writing articles. Just as you commented, my stuff is kind of composition exercises. Frankly speaking, most of my postings are very skinny. As I decided to write out these things, I always keep a simple goal: To help myself and some friends obtain a strong feeling about something, even a single word. In doing so, it is inevitable to make the whole writing awkard.

I hope some other more serious writers can surf on this forum. Then, I can learn something from them. I am neither a professional writer, or a freelancer. I am afraid I will not be able to reach the level of Indian guys.

Here is a thumb of rule. In learning and memtoring, the most important thing is to impress ourselves and other people. For this purpose, we often pay some other prices.

In addition, good writings need constant refinement. Even the professional writers need to overhaul theri artifacts. Unfortunately, I have no potential to become a professional writer.

Thank you again for your comments.

  • 工作学习 / English / Are you a C++ diehard? ---Not for programmers.
本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛A diehard is a person who is very sticky at things. For instance, in the Chinese programmers in Canada, there are some Windows diehards. These people grew up with Windows and love everything from Microsoft. In their eyes, MS SQL server is the most powerful and user-friendly database servers in the world, and Visual Basic is the most beautiful programming langauge created ever. As for Java, it is deemed as a piece of shit from Sun Microsystem.

Likewise, there are some Linux diehards in the United States. These people are so enthusiastic in Linux operating systems. They hate Miscrosoft every much.

I use Microsoft operating systems, but I am not a Microsoft diehard.
I am a Java programmer, but I am not a Java diehard because I believe that Java is not a good solution to many problems.

However, I am a desktop diehard because I am too used to playing at desktop. I feel very uncomfortable at using a laptop, because I like to use external mouses. But I don't think I am an external mouse diehard,
because a mouse is something that nobody would like to "die hard" for it.

Well, are you a Ford diehard or a Toyota diehard?更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
    • I am money diehard. lol
      • I am GYMNASIUM diehard.
        • You are a workout enthusiast-or workout fanatic, if you don't mind to be a little extreme. You are not a gym fan, like if you are a church-goer, you are not a church fan.
          • Thanks for correcting my mistakes. Your posting is pertinent. I have deleted #73406 so as not to mislead people further.
            • Thanks jabber. Here is another example of "die-hard".
It's on last Saturday's Toronto Star, a report on Nortel's succession plan:
"John Ross, a die-hard Canadian himself,...". If someone is a die-hard for something, s/he is usually a fan/member of something that is not mainstream. In the case of Nortel, it's a rarity in the US dominated corporate giant club. So the title of a die-hard Canadian is proper here.
      • It is natural for you to love money. You are not a money diehard. You may be a money maniac. :-) ;-)
    • everyone's a sex-diehard. ^_* Good at sex
    • Addendum: A diehard has some predijuice towards new things.
For instance, an X-car diehard will stick at X-cars even it has proved that X-car has poor quality.

Please do not abuse this word---diehard. If you need have sex three times per week or every night, that means you are highly sexually active. But you are not a sex die-hard. Likewise, you may be a money maniac,
but you are not a money die-hard.

In any case, a hard is not prone to accept new things.
      • nice try, Jabber.
        • 可不可以提个意见,个人觉得你的文章还比较单薄, 引深不够, 跟象是英文造句练习. "For instance","However","Well","In any case" 等中国人很喜欢用, 我觉得要注意. 如果追求地到优美的英语, 印度网站上的英文值得学习.
