Provide technical expertise to effectively support and maintain Sun and Linux server environment. Provide day-to-day administration of all Linux and Sun Solaris systems and the SAN environment.
Provide 3rd level operations support for system related issues
Major Responsibilities
Manage and support UNIX, Linux, EMC and SAN Hardware
Server builds including racking and cabling
Perform upgrades, patch management and code deployments as required
Administer all core system software including web servers, application servers, BEA middleware and IBM WebSphereMQ
Manage Veritas volumes, file systems and clusters
Administer the Netbackup and SAN environment
Ensure adequate capacity to meet business and application requirements
Provide 24/7 support on a rotational basis and work flexible shifts
Document all system processes
Author UNIX/Perl/TCL scripts for administration as required
Ensure high quality service delivery
Ensure compliance with all operations policies and audit procedures (security and 5970)
Participate in BCP/DRP planning and exercises
Administer monitoring software (hobbit and Uptime)
Competencies (Skills/Qualifications/Experience)
Post-Secondary Education in Computer Science/Engineering/Mathematics or a related discipline
Certified Solaris 10 System Administrator
4+ years experience in Solaris 8-10 support and administration
Strong knowledge of core FundSERV technologies including BEA, Oracle, IBM WebSphereMQ and Open SSL
Knowledge of Solaris SVM, Veritas Foundation Suite, Netbackup, FoxT Authentication Manager, RSA Ace server and LDAP
Experience with EMC Power Path, vxdmp, mpxio
Proficient in UNIX shell Scripting
Hand on experience with enterprise class servers
Experience in troubleshooting EMC and Sun hardware related issues
Working experience of Brocade 5100B switches
Ability to work under pressure and provide after-hours support for projects and support
The capability to integrate monitoring and performance tools and analyze their output
Good knowledge of network connectivity, protocols and the ability to configure servers as per prescribed standards
Knowledge of mass storage platforms like SAN, NAS, Disk Arrays and tape libraries etc
Experience in ssh, sftp, ftp, smtp, snmp
Ability to muti-task
Strong trouble shooting and problem solving skills
Strong communication skills both written and verbal
Experience in ITIL change management process
Must be able to work independently and a strong team player
