Position Title Consultant, Java Developer Band: Consultant level
Position No: Dept/Zone: Information Services - Dept. 08
Reporting Structure: Experience/Education Requirements:
· Reports to the Manager, Software Development
· Assigned to Project Manager for project work · Minimum of 8 years of software development experience in J2EE
· Minimum of 4 years of hands on experience with WAS, WebSphere MQ and Eclipse and/or IBM RAD. Experience with WebSphere ESB is highly desirable.
· Solid understanding of J2EE/JEE architecture
· Solid experience in AJAX, EJB, JAXB, JPA, JDBC, Servlets, Struts, JSP, TagLib, XML/XSLT, JMS/Messaging, SOAP, WebServices, and Spring (Core, MVS, Web Services), Hibernate, JUnit and Ant/Maven.
· Strong experience with scripting for automated tests/builds. Experience with Continuous Integration Server like Hudson or Cruise Control is highly desirable.
· Experience working in UNIX based production environment. Shell scripting and or experience writing Perl or Ruby or Python scripts is highly desirable.
· Experience in functional specification definition using traditional and Use Case based approaches
· Experience in analysis and application design using Design Patterns and UML
· Hands on experience with DB2. Working knowledge with other relational databases like MS SQL Server and Oracle is desirable.
· Experience in application performance optimization and tuning, SQL query optimization and Caching.
· Experience with Code Reviews and preparing and executing test cases / test scripts
· Experience with Agile and RUP methodologies.
· Experience in leading/mentoring junior developers.
· University degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related fields.
Purpose of the Role: Scope or Impact:
To develop/design Java / J2EE (JEE) based applications. To help TCI business growth through a highly productive and efficient Java Developer specializing in Web application development by ensuring uniformity, quality and reliability of the applications developed
Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
· Work with/as Team Lead, translate business requirements into functional specification
· Design and document software/integration components based on solution architecture and functional specification
· Code and test enterprise applications
· Work in a team environment using a structured development process
· Rich communication with team on project progress, issues, and risks
