• Works closely with all members of the Information Systems team to ensure that processes, standards, guidelines and design specifications are documented and followed.
• Participates in technical/systems analysis, design, systems integration testing, implementation and support of software applications (both in house and 3rd party), using existing and emerging technology platforms.
• Ensures open, flexible and standardized integration of applications.
• Obtains clear requirements from business analysts or clients, and works with team members to design conceptually sound and flexible solutions.
• Agrees upon project priorities and delivers integration tested, quality assured and professionally deployed application functionality.
• Contributes to the in-house development team by assisting with coding, relevant documentation and participating in code and system architecture reviews.
• Provides application and user support, troubleshooting, application testing, system integration testing and post-implementation review of new and changed applications.
• Develops domain expertise in specific technical skills, tools, and techniques.
• Extends understanding of business and IT/IS strategies, drivers, and processes at the project and the department level.
• Extends awareness of risks associated with application development potential impacts, incorporating risk planning and mitigation.
• Coordinates with other support resources to ensure systems are running to organizational SLA levels, meet compliance requirements, and are sufficiently supported.
• Works closely with the Information Technology team to co-ordinate and execute application installations and upgrades and to ensure focused and timely issue resolution.
• Monitors service requests to the IS team and co-ordinates their planning and execution in collaboration with other team members.
• Provides day-to-day and on-call / off-hours support for production applications as scheduled.
What you will bring to this role:
• University Degree or College Diploma in a related field
• Minimum 5 years equivalent experience and ideally Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate.
• Solid understanding of key architecture considerations/issues associated with distributed multi-tier infrastructure such as OO design and development framework.
• Technical Troubleshooting - knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for anticipating, recognizing, and resolving technical (hardware, software, application or operational) problems.
• Must be available to perform on call support outside of regular office hours.
• Proven experience in the following tools:
• UNIX / Linux / Shell scripting (bash, Perl, etc.)
• Windows environments
• Apache web server
• Tomcat / Weblogic
• Oracle 10g/11g
• Java EE Web and Business Components
• Presentation layer technologies such as JSPs, HTML/CSS/AJAX, SiteMinder, Struts, XML, HTML
• Spring Framework, Hibernate, Maven, Subversion, JQuery, CVS
• Additional experience may include any of the following:
• VMware
• Web services Soap UI, SOAP (simple object access protocol)
• SAP Business Objects
• Alfresco CMS
• Terracotta
• ZK (framework)
