Please be aware of Money Exchange scam in Denparsa, Bali, Indonesia. If you want to change your money, go to the bank. Don't let the high exchange rate posted on the cardboard on streets to lure you falling in easy prey in Kuta beach areas.

I caught three different Money Exchange shops stealing my money during the transaction. This old trick happened in China some 30 years ago.
If you have to exchange money from one of the Money Changers in Kuta Beach area, please carefully count the money in the exact amount by yourself, not by the agent. Never let the agent put money into an envelope then hand it to you in the last transaction.

This is an ongoing scam known by travellers.

US$1=13050. is the best bank rate

Street vendor phoney rate. US$1=13,899 IRS such phoney attractive rate will get you in short change.

Please be careful when you are in Denparsa Indonesia.

I am now in Bali.

    • I was a victim in Kuta. They "robbed" about half million Rupias in front of my eyes. Avoid Kuta. In Ubud, the exchange shops are more reliable. Still common caution is needed.
    • Corruption is way of life in Indonesia. There are many other scams, however please be violent as common sense prevails. +1
本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Forgetting wearing a helmet riding a riding bike. I was stopped by 3 cops. They threatened me with detention unless I paid 3 million Repias US$1=13,050 Rupias. Then they further charged me of 100,000 Rupias for operating a motorbike without a driver license. In fact, no driver is required for motorbike.
I managed to negotiate 300K for the settlement, Again, I rode my bike without a helmet back to my hotel. This is life in Bali.

Money Exchange vendors on street, they always posted licensed number as authorized Money Changer.
They learned a skill to steal money while final count of your money mount on a hidden table . You would not notice that at last minute.

I knew the trick and I tried to beat the cheating game by holding the money without putting it back on the table, one of the vendors was smart and refused to exchange the money for me. This was a typical cheating racket in many tourist areas including UBUD.

Even you go to the bank, you have to check the correct amount last minute. Do not leave bank and return for short change. Then you could be arrested for cheating the bank.

I bought a bus ticket from Mount Bromo to Denparsa, where Problolingo is a small town near Love volcano. I got cheated 100K for the bus fare, and I was further cheated $65k which was included in the ticket. I paid total 300K and the local people paid less than 150K.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
      • The traffic police thing is very typical. For this reason I didn't ride motorcycle in Bali. Have you been you Gili Trawanga? The life is easier there.
        • I am now in Gili island. +1
          • Cool! 1, The water off north is PERFECT for snorkelling. 2, If you swimming off the east, you may find a turtle and swim with him.
      • Sorry for the typo made by iPad. The sentence should read as please be vigilant..... +1
