本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛When you are in Hawaii, please try the LUAU (Hawaii BBQ under sand pit hole), please check with local newspaper ads for best location and price. It is not cheap!
Polynesian Culture centre is a must to know about Hawaii. Again, this place is not cheap but it offers you many things to see in a short time, you can enjoy buffet dinner before returning to your hotel.
If you like shopping, I suggest that you take the Hello Kitty Free shuttle bus from Ala Moana centre, then walk out the store across the street, you will find COSTCO. Sales Tax is 6% vs 13% in Ontario. You can buy many local Hawaii produces in this store. Many tropical fruits.
Drive along The Diamond Head road, it is very scenic. There is a famous bay where the classic movie BLUE HAWAII was filmed. Songs like NO MORE, THE BLUE HAWII, LETS GO ON MOONLIGHT SWIM, HAWIAIIAN WEDDING Songs etc ., by Elvis Presley.
I strongly suggest that you download this movie and watch it before your departure.
China Hat park is nice place for wind surfing.
Chinatown is pretty well dead as younger generation of Chinese have moved out for seeking greener pasture in mainland for better opportunity.
There is nothing much in Chinatown areas, foods are terrible and expensive.
Ala Moana Shopping Mall is huge . If you are thinking to buy an iPad or iPhone, this is the place to save money. but....ooh, the exchange rate is not good.
Think before you leap.
Waikiki beach is a popular tourist spot.
Please do not forget to visit th Ms Arizona Memorial by U.S. navy.
Good demonstration, movie of archive history when the Japs bombed the Pearl Harbor. It is free admission.
Please drive around the island, you will notice that many mongoose (imported from Indian many years ago to eat snake) running on the road, you may run over a couple driving on the pineapple fiend highway.
if you want to buy Macadamia nuts, the only place is COSTCO. The price is right. DO NOT buy it anywhere else in HONOLULU.
If you have time, I suggest that you fly to to the big island HAWAII island where you can drive into the Live volcano national park. You will see the lava and many thermal areas. At nights the crater glows like bright Aurora Boreali. Kona is worth visiting. This is a live volcano, still very muc active throughout past 20 years.
You can hop on another island MAUI. You can rent a car and drive to the rain forest road
to HANNA where is the 7 fairy pools.
Many wild guava fruits along the road, very delicious and free.
There are many more places and you have to do your homework for your trip. Aloha!
Mahalo, Weclome to to Hawaii...Enjoy!更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
