枫下家园 / 钱财税务 / Any landlord receive CRA letter requests to register GST/HST account for over $30K self-employment income?Or did I make mistake filing last year's rental income? Is rental income considered as self-employment income?

I don't think I need to pay tax on top of my rent.

Probably your rent includes tax already. The person who received your rent should pay HST.

Found this on hrblock.ca: Long-term residential rentals are not subject to GST/HST. Short-term rentals of less than one month are subject to GST/HST,if the rent charged is more than $20/day. However, you're only required to charge and remit the tax if you're a GST/HST registrant.

Rental income is specially designed in Line 160. Self has another line which is Line 162
