detecting gas leak needs a special tool called Combustible Gas Detector. The CO & Smoke Alarm Detectors are only used to monitor the exist of CO and Smoke.

Same question here. I smell a little bit gas around my outdoor gas metre, anyway to check? Can I call gas company? Do they charge?
