I've seen some home owners have the furnace room reconstructed and left very little space inside. That's a potential danger.Because the air-comsuming heating equipment will suffer oxygen starvation. That may cause incomplete combustion which creates excess CO. More seriously,
The relatively closed space may negatively influnce the exhaust of combustion product. It means the CO may leak into your house.
Solution,
1. Leave proper space in furnace room.
2. If not applicable, open two windows on the wall of the furnance room, or simply leave the door open.

最近十几年新建房子很多都用专门管子从室外抽取燃烧用空气, 不再消耗室内氧气.
